About...
The Quimper - Pont-l'Abbé railway line was a single-track, standard gauge local line about twenty kilometres long. It was brought into service in 1884. It was run by the Paris-Orléans network, then the Ouest-État network and, from 1938, by the SNCF (unified national rail network). Passenger services were discontinued in 1950 and the line was finally closed in 1988. The rails have now been removed and the old track has been converted into a greenway.
The Quimper - Pont-l'Abbé line served two intermediate stations between its termini: Pluguffan-Kerlarnig and Combrit-Tréméoc. Only the Combrit-Tréméoc station still exists today.
The passenger building at this small rural station has been converted into a private dwelling. It is of the ‘three-door’ type. This station does not appear to have had an associated goods shed, and in any case no trace of one remains.
The Combrit-Tréméoc station is located in the commune of Combrit, but is much closer to the town of Tréméoc than to Combrit, hence the name combining the names of the two communes.
